As the next Mayor, Murph is committed to addressing the many challenges facing Columbia today. From public safety to infrastructure, Murph’s focus is on building a community where every resident feels secure, supported, and empowered. With a deep understanding of our city's needs and a track record of community involvement, Murph’s priorities reflect the values of Columbia’s citizens and aim to create lasting, positive change for future generations.

Public Safety & Crime Prevention

Murph knows that a safer Columbia is a stronger Columbia. As a long-serving member of the Crimestoppers board, he has a unique understanding of the advancement of crime in our community. Murph is committed to improving public safety by increasing support for law enforcement, fostering community partnerships, and addressing the root causes of crime.

Modernizing Infrastructure

Columbia’s infrastructure is aging and in need of updates to meet the demands of a prosperous city. As Mayor, Murph will prioritize the modernization of our roads, bridges, and public utilities. From improving transportation to ensuring clean and reliable water systems, Murph will make the city’s infrastructure a top priority.

Community Development

Murph understands that strong neighborhoods and affordable housing are the backbone of a thriving city. As Mayor, he will focus on creating homeownership opportunities and fostering community development that benefits residents across the city. Murph's goal is to ensure that every neighborhood feels supported and connected to the city’s progress.

  • 38% satisfied with safety in city parks. (Fewer than 4 out of 10 satisfied)
  • 33.1% satisfied with safety walking downtown. (Only one-third satisfied)
  • 32% satisfied with how quickly police respond to emergencies. (Less than 3 out of 10)
  • 27.6% satisfied with how police enforce local traffic laws. (Less than 3 out of 10)
  • 26.9% satisfied with visibility of police in neighborhoods. (Less than 3 out of 10)

  • When residents were asked what City Hall’s top priority among Major City Services should be over the next two years, they overwhelmingly responded: quality of police and fire services. (Source: Community Survey, Question 3, Page 15 in linked presentation, Page 5 in survey.)
